It is better (although not mandatory) to have have some basic knowledge in ODE and to have followed the basic course in PDE of this master program.

The aim of this course is to present examples of mathematical modeling in the life sciences both through traditional courses and through presentations by researchers in this area and to introduce some useful tools for pursuing studies in .

• Population Dynamics - single species and interaction between species. Structured populations.

• Mathematical epidemiology.

• Reaction-diffusion equations and front propagation in Ecology and in Biology.
